VALOR Partners is supporting the Finnish mutual pension insurance company, Ilmarinen, as the exclusive financial advisor in the sale of Ilmarinen’s c. 20% ownership interest in the Finnish national transmission service operator, Fingrid, to a consortium led by the State of Finland.
Fingrid, with a regulated asset base of c. 4 €bn, is the owner and operator of the nationwide core electricity transmission grid in Finland, as well as several interconnections to Sweden, Norway and Estonia. To respond to the strong electricity demand growth driven by electrifying industries, heating and an increasingly information-intensive society, Fingrid has plans to invest c. 4-5 €bn to expand the Finnish transmission grid over the next decade.
